Kerry Clegg

Following many years as a primary education teacher Kerry trained as a Reading Recovery teacher in 2012. She then went on to complete a master’s degree in literacy leadership in 2016 and was Reading Recovery Teacher Leader in the north-east for six years. Kerry is also one of the team of national trainers for Boosting Reading Potential (BR@P/ BR@S) supporting implementation in first, primary and secondary schools across the north-east as well as building capacity by training new trainers.

Kerry’s other work with North Tyneside Local Authority involved training teachers in early reading skills, including SCITT students. She also works closely with secondary and middle schools supporting older struggling readers, and as part of the HIVE team delivering specialist reading support to Looked After Children. She is passionate about raising expectations for the hardest to teach children in reading and writing.
